Almost Nothing

• July 31st, 2013

podcover63.jpgSometimes it’s a good idea to step back and take stock of what we actually do in our search for EVP, and better analyze what we know. However, trying to put it all into perspective can be difficult, and often leaves us with the sad notion that what we know is actually almost nothing. That shouldn’t stop us. Likewise, this process shouldn’t lend credibility to the phenomena or remove it, but it certainly provides us with the opportunity to think things through a little better. It allows us to adjust our direction or solidify a successful and meaningful approach. What we know is never enough, but being certain it’s reasonably accurate is significant.

Agreement

• July 15th, 2013

podcover62.jpgThere are all sorts of reasons not to accept an EVP’s credentials. Most are very good reasons, but often we make up our own senseless rules that only get in the way, and sometimes the voices don’t cooperate very well. No one ever said it would be easy, and no one ever said we had to always agree. It’s wonderful when we do, but sometimes we learn more when we don’t. It’s part of what keeps us on our toes and interested, and it’s most definitely a necessary evil inherent in any paranormal research. So, here’s to both sides of any issue.

All Roads Lead to Rome

• July 1st, 2013

podcover61.jpgParanormal investigation is not a science, and we often find ourselves suffering low public credibility due to our own, unfounded claims of scientific expertise and methodology. What we have instead is extensive training and incomparable experience in one of the most mind-blowing fields on earth. Unfortunately, that does not make us scientists, but we don’t need to be. There are so many fascinatingly different ways to explore the paranormal, including everything from religious to totally fact-based analysis, and there is evidence of the afterlife and the other side along each of these different paths. Each will lead us to the truth. The real task that faces us lies in recognizing the clues along our way, and in accepting that “all roads lead to Rome.”

In the Presence of Spirit

• May 31st, 2013

podcover60.jpgThere are occasions when we find ourselves in the presence of a spirit. There’s usually no way of knowing it to be true, but there are times when the signs are too great to ignore – when every fiber of our body knows that we are not alone. This ultimate communication is powerful and purposeful – we’re being put on notice, and very often, this corresponds to EVP. The other side is talking and we need to listen. On these occasions, there is no doubt; everything is different – from how we feel to the air we breathe and there’s no point in trying to explain it away. When it happens, you know. You just know.

Patience

• May 15th, 2013

podcover59.jpgBeing patient has always been a part of paranormal investigation and EVP work, but patience needs to also be extended toward the spirits with whom we wish to communicate. Sometimes, being patient, and making sure that spirits know our attitude, is all we need do to show them we’re worthy of hearing from them – that we deserve their trust. Being patient with a spirit is no less than what we would want and expect for ourselves, but spirits cooperation is necessary in everything we do, so it makes sense that our approach toward them be one that is conducive to their engagement. Exhibiting patience is important to achieve the results we desire.

No Scientists

• May 1st, 2013

podcover58.jpgMost paranormal investigators do not operate as scientists. What is it about the methods we use or the things we do that causes some of us to feel we’re a part of the scientific community? We are reporters – paranormal journalists, if you will. We observe, gather as much verifiable evidence as we can, and report. We draw conclusions that are almost always based solely on our own truthful observations, and sometimes we just plain get it wrong. We can draw almost no conclusions that will stand up to scientific scrutiny, but sometimes the highest value can be found in the telling of a story. Sometimes being on the front lines paints a more accurate picture of the war. Sometimes the accuracy is less significant than understanding. With EVP, it’s the voices that drive us and the simple act of communication is the true prize.

We Just Don’t Understand

• April 15th, 2013

podcover57.jpgA spirit voice is more than enough to convince us that a location is active, but is it enough to provide the complete understanding we’re hoping for? Some EVP are very pertinent to the location under investigation, and to the people associated with the situation, but most voices are difficult to pin down in that regard. Investigators need to be careful not to jump to conclusions, even if the evidence seems telling, because so many EVP sound out of place and irrelevant? It is reasonable that relevance is often hidden from us, and that just like the living, the deceased are well aware of what they are saying. The dead don’t suddenly lose their grip on reality - more than likely that it is our understanding that is flawed. It is more probable that we just don’t understand.

Something Strange…

• April 2nd, 2013

podcover56.jpgThis episode of The Voices Podcast is in two parts. The first, reveals something very strange that was discovered during EVP sessions without the benefit of a microphone. The experiment, first done by PHPRS (Perry Hall Paranormal Research Society), suggests the possibility that silence is relative and depends entirely on how deeply we are actually able to hear. Modern technology provides the mechanism for discovery, but also raises even more questions about the nature of those soft voices we so eagerly attach to spirits. In addition to the experiment, we visit the grandchildren once again and tie up some loose ends through EVP samples that were not previously divulged.

Is Spirit Bilocation Possible?

• March 15th, 2013

podcover55.jpgWith some of the current trends in paranormal investigation leaning toward the immediacy of real-time communication with “the other side,” it stands to reason that the idea of spirit bilocation would be equally as enticing. Is spirit bilocation possible? Can a spirit in one location communicate via EVP in another – hundreds of miles away? This episode centers around an experiment we initiated into that possibility. This ongoing and continuing experiment is featured on this segment of the podcast as we reveal the parameters and results of Phase One.

Interview with Isis

• February 28th, 2013

podcover54.jpgThis episode represents a momentary break from our usual EVP-centric offering, and features an interview with Isis. The point of the episode is to better understand the Pagan religion, and because Isis is such an articulate spokesperson, she provides some much needed education about this unique belief system as it relates to both the normal and the paranormal. In today’s society, the Pagan point of view is often incorrectly characterized and severely misunderstood, so this interview is our attempt to change that by providing a first hand look at this highly spiritual and deeply “human” way of life. I hope you enjoy hearing from Isis as much as I enjoyed meeting her.
